Ministry Description

Gary M. Bowlin is a native of Amite County, Mississippi.  He was saved at his home church at the age of 10.  He is a graduate of Louisiana State University with a degree in accounting.  After five years in business as a CPA, he left behind a successful business career to follow God’s call to preach the glorious Gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  He was licensed to preach in June, 1973, by First Baptist Church, Jackson, Mississippi.  He went on to New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he received the Master of Divinity degree in 1976.  He served three growing churches as pastor before entering full-time evangelism in January of 1980.

During the last 36 years in full-time vocational evangelism, Gary has preached over 1,200 revival crusades across America and in several foreign countries.

He has served his peers on three different occasions as President of the Conference of Mississippi Baptist Evangelists and has been a keynote speaker three times at the Mississippi State Evangelism Conference and many other Bible conferences.

He was one of the featured speakers in June of 2005 in Nashville at the Southern Baptist Convention-wide worship service at the Ryman Auditorium.

He was Vice-President of the Conference of Southern Baptist Evangelists of the Southern Baptist Convention during 2005-2006; Gary also served as President of the Conference of Southern Baptist Evangelists of the Southern Baptist Convention during 2006-2007.

He and his wife Norma are also very active in organizing and leading volunteer mission trips overseas.  They have organized and led over 45 medical, evangelism and Vacation BibleSchool teams to Romania and organized and led volunteer mission teams to Peru.  They have also led volunteer teams to Korea and Hong Kong on a number of occasions.  During 2016 there are two overseas mission trips planned for volunteer medical, VBS, construction, ladies conference, Bible and tract and eyeglass distribution teams.  He and Norma also lead groups to Israel, with his 38th trip planned for February of 2016.  They are members of the Fellowship of Baptist World Ministries, a group of organizations from throughout the United States which, in cooperation with the International Mission Board, mobilize volunteer mission teams to serve overseas in short-term mission work.

Gary and Norma are committed to the local church and when not in revivals, they are actively involved in the ministry of West McComb Baptist Church. Norma is a native of McComb, Mississippi. She is a ladies' conference teacher and speaker both in the United States, as well as overseas. She is also a photographer and devotional writer.

Gary and Norma are the parents of two adult children – Julie, who is married to Justin Garrigues, a manager with AT&T, and Brad, who is an emergency room physician in Tupelo, Mississippi, and is married to Veronica Bowlin.  They are also the proud grandparents of Jacob Garrigues, Julie's and Justin's son born in October of 2008, and Case Bowlin, Brad and Veronica's son born in July of 2010.
