Ministry Description

Amy Stockwell is an anointed worship leader, inspirational soloist, and Bible teacher whose ministry in music, drama and teaching has touched thousands of lives.

Amy's interest in music and singing began at an early age, when, at seven years old, she heard the incredible voice and saw the ministry of Christian artist and mezzo-soprano, Cynthia Clawson. Amy received Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord after hearing Cynthia sing, and asked God to allow her to be a singer as well. Amy spent many years studying music and honing her musical gifts, including training in piano and voice, church choir, stage productions, school competitions and university training.

A graduate of Baylor University in Waco, Texas with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre Arts, Amy is also a teacher of voice, acting, and speech, and produced and directed Broadway-style musicals for Second Baptist High School in Houston, Texas for seven years.

A ten-year staff member of Second Baptist Church Houston, including several years as secretary to the pastor, Dr. Ed Young, Amy has been a church choir member, production assistant, worship team leader, and inspirational soloist since the age of fifteen.

Amy continues to serve at Second Baptist Church of Houston as an active member of the West Worship Choir, having joined her husband, David Stockwell, in full-time evangelistic ministry with David Stockwell Evangelistic Association in 1999.

As she travels with David around the world, Amy delights school children and adults alike with her upbeat, powerful and well-orchestrated songs, and amazes them with her clear-toned, high-spiking A's and B's. Many of the young people who hear Amy sing have never heard a "real" singer before. Amy leads in praise and worship at DSEA ministry events and a variety of venues related to DSEA's evangelistic ministry.

Amy released her solo album, “This Is My Song,” in October of 2006, recorded in Nashville, Tennessee at Daywind Recording Studios. The CD project includes some Stockwell favorites, including “I’ve Just Seen Jesus,” “More Than Wonderful,” and “How Great Thou Art.”
